Erasmus School

In 1996, with the help of members of the School of Philosophy, Erasmus School of Primary Education was established in Hawthorn.

At Erasmus School we believe that a balanced education brings harmony to the body, mind, heart and spirit. It is perfectly natural for a child to be happy and confident and a true education which is rich and engaging draws out these qualities.

We offer a unique education founded on the principles of classical philosophy and the great spiritual teachings of East and West. Philosophy literally means a love of wisdom, and we use methods and materials that have stood the test of time and still remain relevant today. This includes systematic study and use of the finest materials such as works of the world’s great philosophers, teachers, writers and artists.

Serving lunch and reading together

We aim for every child to discover his or her special gifts and build character by developing clarity of mind, courage and integrity. Our approach enables the children to find strength and steadiness within themselves. They are then equipped to enjoy exploring and finding their place in the world so that they
can live meaningful and satisfying lives.

Our children are well prepared for transition to secondary school and go on to excel at a range of schools across Melbourne.
